Activities available weekdays and weekends:

  • Enjoy our Barnyard Adventure playground.  There’s lots of room for the kids to run and activities that ignite their imagination – playhouses, tricycle track, sandbox, and more…  Just the right size for the little ones

  • Our farm animals love visitors especially when they bring treats.   Food for them is available in our market and at admission.  We also offer you an opportunity to learn with all of our great farm animal fact boards.

  • Check out our Paddock Playground full of activities that are a bit more challenging and active for the not so littles and the young at heart.

  • Enjoy mazes? Get lost in our corn maze where all you see is corn and sky.  Don’t panic, your kids will help get you out.  Check out our Lost and Found cedar maze in our Barnyard Adventure Playground.  You can’t measure it in acres but challenges can come in small packages.

  • Our play train has been a landmark structure for over 30 years.  At least two generations of kids have traveled far in their imaginations on this train.  What child doesn’t want to get behind the wheel of a tractor?  Both make a good backdrop for group pictures.

  • Scavenger Hunts – Add a fun and interesting way to explore the farm.  We have a variety of choices for all ages for you to choose from.  Check out our wall of hunts posted in our animal barn.

  • Tranquility Trail – Get out and stretch your legs. Enjoy an extended walk around our farm’s fields taking in the beauty of the surrounding Durham region countryside.   The trail takes approximately 45 minutes to walk.  Suitable for ages 6 plus.  The terrain is uneven so good walking shoes or boots are necessary.  Wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather.  Long sleeves and pants are highly recommended for protection against ticks and mosquitos.

Plus Special Festival Activities

  • Visit our Imagination Station – We have a selection of crafts for the kids to do in a nice warm room.  It’s a good chance to get out of the weather, relax and be creative!  There’s even an easy craft for the wee ones to do.

  • Special Guests – Join us Thanksgiving Monday, October 19th and 2oth and October 27th for extra special guests that will enhance your visit.

  • Wagon rides are happening on weekends between 10 and 4 weather permitting.  The last ride out can be as late as 4:00 but come early so you won’t miss it.  See the farm from a different perspective.  The view is beautiful, and the air is fresh.

Dress for the weather – wear boots if there has been a recent rain.  We are also cooler and windier here on the farm so come prepared with warm jackets and hats to keep warm.

Pumpkin Patch Conference
  • Pumpkins are an extra charge and not included in the admission price.  Pick your own from our fields or we have piles of them already picked displayed by our market for easy access.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct 25th and 26th   Carve your pumpkins at the farm

Pumpkins at Forsythe Family FarmsWhat kid doesn’t love Halloween night, the excitement of dressing up and heading out to meet their friends and neighbors? What parent loves the frantic preparations of carving the pumpkin as you’re trying to get an early dinner before heading out with the kids?

We will have a pumpkin carving station available Saturday and Sunday for you to have fun carving the pumpkin you’ve picked and purchased. Leave the mess with us. (Actually, the animals will love all the scraps, seeds, and goop you leave behind) Take home your pumpkin carved and ready to display. Basic carving tools will be available. If you are super creative and have special tools for carving bring them along.

Mmmm Apple Cider – Hot off the press Sunday, October 26th

Bushel ApplesThe last Sunday of our Harvest Festival is traditionally our cider pressing day.  Come watch the Geissberger brothers as they press fresh apples into cider for us with their mobile cider unit.  The apples are washed, crushed, pressed and the cider is pasteurized all on the trailer.

A good opportunity to take home naturally delicious sweet apple cider with no preservatives or sugar added.

Bonus – the cider keeps for one year without refrigeration
