Eight great farms to explore with the whole family for some fall fun

There’s nothing quite like the comfort of autumn. Sunny days, crisp air, the trees ablaze with gorgeous colours, and our dreams of pumpkin spice and the harvest finally coming true. It’s one of the best times to visit the many farms and farm markets across Durham Region and experience the fun of the fall harvest.

Below are eight great farms to explore with the whole family for some fall fun, including corn mazes, pumpkin patches and lots of family-friendly activities. Enjoy wagon rides out to the fields, pig races, pumpkin-picking, and maybe meet a few farm animals along the way. Wherever you go, you’re sure to have an amazing fall farm experience.

• Brooks Farms, 122 Ashworth Rd., Mount Albert: This family farm has hosted its Fall Fun Festival for over a decade. Enjoy the fall Brooks Farm style with a corn maze, pig races, a pumpkin cannon show and, of course, the farm market. Open weekends until Oct. 28.

• Cooper’s CSA Farm and Maze, 266 Ashworth Rd., Zephyr: Fall fun festivities take place every October, featuring the 10-acre corn labyrinth. In 2018, the labyrinth will feature a basketball theme because members of the Cooper family are huge basketball fans. Open Thursday though Sunday. Maze is open until 10 p.m. on Saturday evenings.

• Forsythe Family Farms, 1025 Cragg Rd., Greenbank: Experience the October Harvest Festival at Forsythe Family Farms, open Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Monday. Get lost in the two-acre corn maze, enjoy wagon rides, or check out the funky pumpkin activity.
